Annual IOS Art Walk

IOS produces a free two-day annual art walk as our signature event. The event draws hundreds of visitors each year who are invited on a self-guided tour of artists’ private work spaces, art galleries, and cultural organizations to enjoy visual art created in all types of media: drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, photography, printmaking, installation, video and performance. Also happening both days are artist-organized workshops, discourse and performances throughout Inglewood. 2023 marked the 14th year for the IOS Art Walk.

Artist Meetings

Artist meetings are social events on Zoom or in person inviting local artists to participate in IOS direction, event planning or services for artists. These accessible meetings provide space for community building through socializing, art discourse, and idea sharing.

Studio Visits

Throughout the year, IOS Board members organize studio visits with Inglewood artists, inviting curators, collectors and other art professionals. The visits are a way for the IOS board to stay connected with the Inglewood art community, provide strategic exposure for the artists and even for fundraising.

Youth Art Programs

Envisioned, consulted on and managed by the IOS Youth Art Council, Youth Art Programs include:

Artist Mentors: IOS provides artist grants for local working artists to do workshops in their art studios and at local high schools with youth. This program exposes high school-aged youth to the professional possibilities within the creative economy.

Community Partnerships: IOS Partners with local schools and cultural organizations, including Milestones Preschool, Saint Mary’s Academy for Girls, Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and the Inglewood Unified Public School District, to develop arts programming and exposure for young people.

Exhibitions: IOS organizes and facilitates exhibition opportunities for youth with our partners: Saint Mary’s Academy for Girls and Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, which create inspirational peer to peer opportunities; for example, where YOLA music students can appreciate work by visual art students and vice versa in the same space.
