• Muralist Roster 2024 Request for Qualifications

    City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs— Due 2/5: The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), Public Art Division, seeks professional LA based artists to comprise the 2024 Roster of Pre-Qualified Muralists. Muralists selected to be on the roster will be eligible to participate in the Division’s Request for Proposals process, a competitive bidding process necessary for the City to commission a wide variety of new mural projects for the City.

    A Selection Panel composed of muralists, arts professionals, and City representatives will convene to review all applications received through this RFQ and select up to forty-five (45) individuals and teams.

    The Roster will remain active for three (3) years from the date of selection. Muralists and muralist teams pre-qualified through this RFQ will not be guaranteed a commission.

    AMOUNT $5,000 to $150,000

  • Creative Action Coalition Online Exhibition Call

    CAC—Due 2/10: Creative Action Coalition is looking for artwork expressing the soul of the colonized, the oppressed, and the displaced. Response to oppression can take on many forms, sometimes all at once: pain, anger, despair, feelings of alienation, and internalization of colonial prejudice. Recognizing this phenomenon can lead to positive expressions such as empowerment, seeking accountability, and hopeful visions of the future.

    Whether performance art, paintings, photography, sculpture, animation, moving image, poetry/spoken word, sound art, or any digital work, we invite you to share your feelings through your art. All mediums are welcome.

  • MacDowell Colony Fellowship

    MacDowell Colony—Due 2/10: About 300 artists in seven disciplines are awarded Fellowships each year and the sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. There are no residency fees, and need-based stipends and travel reimbursement grants are available to open the residency to the broadest possible community of artists.

    MacDowell encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and all countries in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. Any applicant whose proposed project does not fall clearly within one of these artistic disciplines should contact the admissions department for guidance. We aim to be inclusive, not exclusive in our admissions process. $30 application fee.

  • Martin House Creative Residency Program

    Martin House—Due 2/16: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House (Buffalo, New York) is searching for applications to its Creative Residency Program. The residency provides individuals from multiple disciplines a thought-provoking environment in which to produce new works of the imagination inspired by one of the great examples of 20th century architecture. Residents will receive a stipend of $5,000. Travel expenses of up to $1,000 will also be provided to residents who are from outside the Buffalo-Niagara region.

  • Indiana University Bloomington 2026 McKinney International Art and Design Residency

    Indiana University—Due 2/16: The Eskenazi School of Art Architecture + Design at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a 4–6-week McKinney International Art and Design Residency. An established artist or designer will be selected whose primary country of residence is outside the United States.

    Studio space, lodging, and a fellowship of $8,000 USD will be provided. This fellowship will be distributed in two parts, one portion prior to arrival in order to assist with travel costs to Indianapolis Airport, and the remaining balance will be distributed after the completion of the visit. The Eskenazi School will also provide health insurance for the length of the appointment, and purchase up to $500 in supplies during the visit. Other studio expenses will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.

  • NXTHVN Fellowship

    NXTHVN—Due 2/26: Each year NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators to participate in its paid 10-month intensive Fellowship Program. The application is open until February 26, 2024. Each Fellow will receive studio or office space, a stipend, and subsidized housing. Selected from an international pool of applicants, Fellows relocate to New Haven to participate in NXTHVN’s mentorship-driven curriculum which includes professional development sessions led by visiting artists, curators, scholars, and practitioners. Selected Fellows are also matched with a high school Apprentice, for focused one-on-one mutual learning, which gives the next local generation a chance to grow and excel in creative fields. The Fellowship year culminates with an annual group show at a prominent gallery space.

    NXTHVN’s 10-month fellowships provide:

    Curatorial Fellows will each receive a $45,000 stipend disbursed quarterly throughout the Fellowship year.

    Studio Fellows will each receive a $35,000 stipend disbursed quarterly throughout the Fellowship year.

  • Tulsa Artist Fellowship 2025-2027

    Tulsa Artist Fellowship—Due 2/28: Tulsa Artist Fellowship is a place-based, durational award focused on supporting visionary arts practitioners. The Fellowship will accept applications from artists and/or arts workers of any medium or discipline with a minimum of five years of arts field experience via tulsaartistfellowship.org. The ten selected awardees, to be announced later in 2024, will each receive a total stipend of $150,000 over three award years, along with a $12,000 yearly housing stipend, $1,200 yearly health stipend, $1,200 yearly studio assistant stipend, $1,500 relocation stipend, fully-subsidized studio spaces, and access to shared art-making facilities.

  • The Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art Grants

    Edith-Russ-Haus—Due 2/29: The Stiftung Niedersachsen grant at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art supports a wide spectrum of media art, from video art and net-based projects to audio works and audiovisual installations. Each of the three grants will be awarded for the production of a new project in the area of media art. The grant is valid for a duration of six months (July–December 2024). It cannot be prolonged and residency is compulsory; grant recipients can expect to stay in Oldenburg, DE at least one month. 12,500 euro grant.

  • LA Commons Call for Lead & Associate Artists: 2024 MacArthur Park Mural Project

    LA Commons—Open until filled: LA Commons is searching for 1 lead artist and 1 associate artist to work with a core Youth Arts Team (Age 15-25) to collect community stories, and to design and a mural for the MacArthur Park area that shares the stories. Youth Arts team members will meet weekly and be paid a stipend for their work. LA Commons will coordinate project partners, supply acquisition, workshop space and recruiting the Youth Arts team. The team will contribute to ongoing efforts to increase neighborhood engagement with and beautification of the park as well as to raise awareness, build understanding, and add to statewide Stop the Hate efforts. Workshops will take place weekly on Wednesdays from 5-7pm at CARECEN. Stipend of $5,000 (lead) and $3,000 (associate).

  • Drawing Together 2024 Public Projects

    Drawing Together—Open until filled: Below are the descriptions for two upcoming public projects. Please read the details for both and indicate which project, or both, you are interested in.

    About the Project: Connections: This new public project entitled Connections will address a leading public health concern of isolation. We will address the issue through cultural exchange workshops with adults, a connection to nature through an invitation to the forest in Wrightwood, and through intergenerational connections through a culminating installation at the Southern California Children's Museum in Pasadena. This project is made possible by a grant from the California Arts Council.

    Dates: January - May 2024, exact dates and times TBD

    Locations: workshops located in Wrightwood, exhibition in Pasadena at the Southern Californian Children's Museum

    Compensation: $1,500 per artist, plus up to $500 in supplies. This project is made possible by a grant from the California Arts Council. Anticipated time commitment is 30 hours, but may vary depending on the creation of the artwork.

    Artist Commitment:

    Artist will be collaborating with another artist to create a new work of art.

    Must be able to travel to Wrightwood once and install finished piece in Pasadena.

    Participate in 1 workshop in Wrightwood.

    Artwork should be inspired by social connections.

    Artwork should be appropriate for children to see.

    Artist should be comfortable working in a collaborative method.

    Artist must provide a headshot and allow Drawing Together to photograph their work to be shared in our publications.

    About the Project: Visitors, Version 2: Visitors, version 2 is the second of a 2-part series of workbooks, art lessons, and art exhibitions that will be presented in the Spring of 2024 in Wrightwood, CA. This community project will focus on the interconnectedness of humans and nature through the lens of histories and stories about home. This project is made possible by a grant from the California Arts Council.

    Arts Education Lesson Plans:

    The program director will work with each artist to develop age-appropriate lessons inspired by the artists’ artwork for elementary ages TK-5th grade. Artists will present a short presentation of their artwork, about themselves, and lead the art lesson during a 45-minute assembly during the month of April.

    Artist Commitment:

    Exhibit at least 2 works of art. Artwork must be appropriate for children to see. Artwork should be informed by the theme of the project. Existing artwork is allowed.

    Be present at the school assembly to teach a lesson in April. Each artist will get a grade range and work with the project director to develop the lesson.

    Be available, in-person, for all above dates.

    Participate in 1 meeting virtually about project implementation in January

    Allow DT to reproduce images of their artwork in the workbook.

    Allow DT to document artists and their artwork in both video and photographs.

    Artists must provide a headshot and image of artwork to be featured in the workbook.

    Compensation:

    Artists will be compensated at a rate of $1,200. Drawing Together will pay artists in May 2024 as an Independent Contractor. Artists will need to complete a 1099 and provide Drawing Together an invoice for payment. Anticipated time commitment is 20 hours.

  • Turnaround Arts: California Administrative Asst.

    Turnaround Arts: CA—Open until filled: The Administrative Assistant acts as a partner to the small, but mighty Turnaround Arts: California team as the organization builds sustainable organizational structures and processes to ensure success into the future. The Administrative Assistant will provide general support in the following areas: program

    event marketing, registration and logistics, office management, and organizational logistics. The

    Administrative Assistant reports to the Executive Director, and supports the team: the Program Director, the Senior Program Manager, and the Associate Director of Development & Communication. This role is key to the success of Turnaround Arts: California. The successful candidate is highlyorganized, responsive to a fast-paced environment, can work well independently and collaboratively, and is highly committed to social justice and creating equitable opportunities through the arts. Starting salary $58,000-$62,000 with health and retirement benefits. Hybrid position.

  • Exploring the Arts Program Coordinator

    Exploring the Arts—Open until filled: Exploring the Arts (ETA) is seeking a Program Coordinator to join the Los Angeles office in support of our Arts Internship Program (AIP) and Network programs and events. The PROGRAM COORDINATOR will work closely with the LA Program Manager on all aspects of AIP and with the Director of the LA office in support of our school and teacher focused Network programming. This is a newly-created position, designed to increase both programs’ capacities, including cultivating new collaborations with schools, Network partners and supporting continued strong student outcomes in AIP.

    This is a full-time position with an anticipated start date in January, 2024. Although a hybrid position, the programming takes place primarily in-person. Candidates for this position must live in or within commuting distance of the areas that we serve (South LA, East LA, Downtown LA, and Pasadena). Salary $48,000-$58,000 with health and retirement benefits.
